The upstart shipped. Novig’s regulated exchange is live, the sweepstakes app is retired, and the CFTC designation behind it (Ludlow Exchange LLC, approved June 16, 2026, roughly five months from filing) was one of the fastest on record. Novig now operates as a federally regulated, sports-only exchange, available nationwide to members 21 and older.
Polymarket relaunched in the U.S. on December 2, 2025 through its acquired CFTC-licensed exchange and clearinghouse (QCEX), runs the deepest political order books in the business, and was clearing $200 million-plus in daily U.S. volume by June 2026. It trades politics, sports, geopolitics, crypto, and culture in roughly 40 states.
Both sides of this matchup are regulated exchanges now, so the sweepstakes-versus-real-money framing this article used to lean on is gone. The split that’s left is breadth against focus. Polymarket prices nearly everything. Novig prices sports with no vig, because every offer comes from another user rather than a house.
Quick Verdict
Polymarket. The liquidity is enormous, the political books have no equal, Geopolitics trades at 0% fees, and it has months of high-volume regulated operation behind it. Novig takes one category and does it with conviction: peer-to-peer sports pricing where you post your own odds or take the best available, with nationwide availability Polymarket can’t match. Sports-first traders should flip the ranking and make Novig the daily driver. Everyone else, Polymarket is the account that earns the deposits.
Side-by-Side Snapshot

What Changed Since Spring
Every version of this comparison written before summer treated Novig as a sweepstakes app with a pending application. Dead framing. The application succeeded, the dual-currency Coins product is gone, and money on Novig now sits on a federally regulated exchange instead of under state sweepstakes law. The company has fuel for the buildout too: a $75 million Series B led by Pantera Capital at about a $500 million valuation, more than $105 million raised overall.
The practical consequence for readers: the old asterisks attached to Novig (redemption minimums, prize-style tax treatment, state-by-state sweepstakes eligibility) no longer apply. What’s left is a straight comparison between two regulated venues with different ambitions.
Two Exchanges, Two Philosophies
Polymarket is trying to price the world. Politics is the franchise, its order books soak up seven-figure positions on major races, and makers pay zero fees with rebates on top. Sports is one wing of a much larger building.
Novig built the whole building for sports. Moneylines, spreads, totals, player props, futures, and a parlay builder that handles same-game and multi-game combos, all priced by users on an open order book with no house margin in the line. Straight positions can be cashed out early for a fixed, guaranteed amount. Winners are welcome, with no limits or bans for being good, and Novig claims its members are 10x more likely to win than at a traditional sportsbook. That number is theirs, but the mechanism behind it, no vig to overcome, is real.
Pick Polymarket If

You want the deepest books and 0% Geopolitics fees.
You post maker orders and want rebates for providing liquidity.
You fund with USDC or want crypto rails.

Pick Novig If
Sports is your only market and you refuse to pay a sportsbook’s vig.
You want to set your own odds and get matched against another user.
Your state sits outside Polymarket’s roughly 40; Novig is available nationwide.
You want early cash out on straight trades at a fixed, guaranteed amount.

Run Both?
That’s still my actual advice, and the price of admission is low. Twenty dollars in deposits across the two pays out $75 in combined bonuses, and sports traders get two differently priced venues for the same games. Polymarket signups HERE, Novig HERE.
Bottom Line
Polymarket is the established exchange this headline promised, and it remains the better first account for anyone who trades more than sports. But Novig stopped being a work-in-progress. It’s a live, regulated, nationwide sports exchange with the cleanest pricing model in the category. Breadth goes to Polymarket. Sports go to whoever shows you the better price, and now you can actually check.
