How to Sign Up for Underdog Predict: A Step-by-Step Guide

By PredictQ Team // Updated: August 2026

Underdog Predict signup runs one of two ways. Existing Underdog users activate the Predict section from their current account in about a minute. New users create one account that covers both DFS and Predict, which takes 5-10 minutes plus a short KYC check. Either way, one app handles everything. And you’re joining at a good moment: Underdog launched its own CFTC-licensed exchange in July 2026, and IG Group has agreed to acquire the company for up to $1.3 billion.

Here’s the complete flow, what documents you’ll need, how state eligibility works, and what to expect before your first trade.

Before You Start: What You’ll Need

Have these ready:

  1. An iOS or Android device. Predict lives primarily in the Underdog mobile app, with some web functionality.

  2. A valid email address.

  3. A phone number that receives SMS.

  4. A government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or passport).

  5. Your Social Security Number (last four digits, standard for KYC).

  6. A funding source: debit card, PayPal, Venmo, or Trustly. Credit cards don’t work for Predict deposits.

  7. Confirmation that you’re 18 or older and physically in a Predict-eligible state.

Step 1: Start the Sign-Up

Head to the Underdog sign-up flow to begin. This applies the DFS welcome bonus tracking (Play $5, Get $50 in bonus entries), which is worth capturing if you’ll use both sides of the app. Note the bonus is DFS-only; it can’t be spent on Predict contracts.

Already have an Underdog account? Skip to Step 7.

Step 2: Download the App

Grab Underdog from the iOS App Store or Google Play. Predict is built into the main app rather than shipped separately, so one download covers DFS picks and event contracts.

Step 3: Create Your Account

Open the app and tap Sign Up. You’ll provide:

  • Legal first and last name

  • Email address

  • A secure password

  • Date of birth (18+ required)

  • Home address

  • Phone number

  • Last four digits of your SSN

The SSN ask is standard for any platform paying out real money. Your information is encrypted.

Step 4: Verify Phone and Email

Underdog sends an SMS code and an email confirmation link. Complete both. Turn on two-factor authentication while you’re there.

Step 5: Upload Your ID

KYC requires a government-issued photo ID. Driver’s license or passport both work. Make the photo well-lit and sharp, show all four corners, and avoid glare. You may also get a liveness selfie check. Verification usually clears within minutes.

Step 6: Make Your First Deposit (for the DFS Bonus)

To claim the $50 in DFS bonus entries, deposit at least $5 and place a first DFS entry of at least $5. The bonus credits once the entry is in. It applies only to DFS picks, never to Predict contracts.

DFS funding options: debit or credit card, PayPal, Venmo, bank transfer, Trustly.

Step 7: Activate Underdog Predict

If you’re in an eligible state, the Predict section appears alongside Drafts in the main navigation. To activate:

  • Open the Predict section

  • Confirm state eligibility (the app geolocates you)

  • Accept the additional event-contract terms

  • Complete any extra KYC steps (usually the same verification clears both products)

As of August 2026, Underdog Predict operates in 31 states plus Washington, D.C., including California, Texas, and Florida. The list moves as state enforcement and litigation play out, so treat the in-app eligibility check as the final word.

Step 8: Fund Your Predict Wallet

Predict runs on separate payment rails from DFS. Open the Predict wallet, pick a method (debit card, PayPal, Venmo, or Trustly), enter at least $10, and confirm.

Credit cards are not accepted for Predict deposits, even though the DFS side takes them. Federal rules for event contracts are stricter than state DFS rules.

Step 9: Place Your First Trade

Markets are organized into four categories: Sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football and basketball, soccer, tennis), Culture (awards markets), Politics (elections), and Economics (Fed decisions, recession markets).

Every market shows a binary Yes/No question with live prices. To trade, choose your side, enter the number of contracts, and confirm. Orders execute at the current market price on Underdog’s own CFTC-registered exchange, which went live in July 2026. No limit orders yet, so what you see is what you get filled at.

Step 10: Track Your Positions

The Track tab shows open positions, current values, and resolution times. It’s also where you sell early at the market price if you want to lock in a gain or cut a loss before settlement.

Step 11: Lock Down the Account

Before you wander off: confirm two-factor authentication is on, set trade fill notifications, and look over the responsible trading tools in settings.

What You End Up With

One verified account carrying:

  • Access to Underdog DFS and Underdog Predict in a single app

  • $50 in DFS bonus entries if you completed the qualifying entry (Predict trades won’t trigger it)

  • Combo entries linking DFS picks with Predict contracts

  • Every Predict market available in your state

Ten minutes of setup, and the hardest part is a well-lit ID photo. You’re also arriving at an interesting time: the IG Group deal is expected to close in late 2026 or early 2027, and in conversations with PredictQ the team has told us directly they want to build for true prediction market principles. Our open letter to Underdog’s new owners covers what we hope comes next.
